This workshop is designed for seniors who just graduated.  You can come as often as you can to work on specific topics and skills. The purpose of this workshop is to help you recall and review topics so that you can be prepared for college courses.  If you are enrolled in a remedial/developmental course in the Fall 2010.  You will have an opportunity to retake your ASSET test and see if you can be placed in a higher level course and/or possibly college level credit bearing course.

You will be taught by instructors at John A. Logan College who have had extensive experience working with high school and college students and are very supportive of students struggling in Mathematics, Writing and Reading and students who want to challenge themselves to do something higher.  Students will receive some incentives for their efforts.

You will also learn about what to expect in college and hopefully acquire some college knowledge skills that will help you succeed and enjoy your college experience.

Below is the list of course offerings and topics:

• Mathematics – Beginning Algebra (Algebra I) & Intermediate Algebra (Algebra II)
• English: Writing
• English: Reading

A college and Career Readiness Guide will be assigned to each individual student.  Your guide will engage, encourage and support your efforts in preparing for college.  They will help with problem solving academics and other issues that may occur at the campus and in the student’s personal and home life.

Why is it important to be college ready?

Various studies estimate that lack of college preparedness cost our nation’s economy from 3.7 billion to $13 billion a year in lost wages, poor worker productivity, increased spending on social programs and direct cost to provide remediation (EdNews.org 10/14/07).  Think about it, “An Investment in knowledge pays the best interest” (Benjamin Franklin).

Preparation is everything!  Get help while you are still in high school!

Even if you don’t preregister, you can still attend.  Stop by John A. Logan College any of the dates above, sign in and check the workshop out!
