College and Career Readiness Guide Program

The College and Career Readiness Guide Program is a free program that helps high school juniors, seniors, and college freshman prepare for and manage college life. The program recruits and trains Guides to work with these students in a mentoring capacity. Guides have contact with their students at least one time a week. During these sessions they talk about career exploration, homework strategies, study skills and other topics related to their education. The guide helps introduce the student to the college environment and assists them in making good choices.

Currently the program has 10 guides working with students. These students are attending classes at John A. Logan College or an area high school. In August veteran guides became Co-Leaders of the College and Career Guides. Their role is to be a resource/mentor for other College Readiness Guides, conduct training for the Guides, and recruit additional Guides for the program.
